On March 18, 2026, the Council of Deans for Information Technology Education – National Capital Region (CODITE-NCR) successfully conducted its Community Development – Tree Planting Drive at Gabriel’s Sanctuary, Sitio Binayoyo, Brgy. Calawis, Antipolo City, Rizal.

The activity resulted in the planting of almost 100 Philippine native tree seedlings, contributing to the ongoing reforestation and conservation efforts of the Upper Marikina Watershed, a vital ecological zone that supports flood control, biodiversity, and environmental sustainability.

The activity was facilitated by Mr. Levi Landingin, whose guidance and coordination ensured the smooth implementation of the program. The initiative was also enriched by the participation and support of the local indigenous community, whose presence highlighted the importance of cultural stewardship and their deep connection to the land.

CODITE-NCR officers, members and supporters were actively participated in the activity, demonstrating their commitment beyond academic leadership by engaging in meaningful environmental action. The collaboration among organizers, facilitators, and the local community fostered a shared sense of responsibility in protecting natural resources.

Through this initiative, CODITE-NCR continues to promote environmental awareness and sustainability within the academic sector, emphasizing the value of collective efforts in addressing environmental challenges.

The Tree Planting Drive stands as a testament to the power of partnership—between institutions and communities—in nurturing and preserving the environment for future generations.
